Ravens!
Ravens: The awesome team you will meet when you drop by. Maybe even a crow or raven on parade, too!
Sara Thornton was born with asthma in a time when few viable treatments were available. Attempting to find alternates to the frequent, painful emergency room visits, she taught herself to read on her mother’s nursing manuals. Throughout childhood and high school, Sara spent many hours reading and researching in libraries and herb shops. Whether voraciously reading any herbal texts she could find or quizzing the old healers running the local shops, she relentlessly sought better and deeper understandings of herbal medicine. During her college years, she had an informal practice tending friends and faculty and eventually became accepted by the college health center, which sent more clients her way. Always, she sought the most practical treatments, resolving the cause, not just the symptom. In 2010, she began Ravenswood Natural Health so others could find effective alternative health solutions. Shortly after, she began a 22-month, 500-hour-long distance learning course with Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, Foundations in Herbal Medicine, which she completed in 2016. In addition, she has completed both the standard and advanced intensives at Dr. Low Dog’s Medicine Lodge Ranch. Sara is a member of the American Herbalists Guild and continues to expand her skills, research, and knowledge through reading and webinars as well as discussions with other herbalists and medical professionals. In addition to guiding a busy herb shop, building a clinical practice, and teaching classes, Sara also consults with medical professionals both locally and nationally.
