The Simsbury Chamber of Commerce first after-hours of fall kicked off on September 21 with a grand load of guests and walk-ins. Food galore by Dom's Broad Street Eatery (330 Broad St, Windsor, CT 06095) was wholeheartedly praised by everyone. And my purple shade hat seems to have taken on a life of its own. Best descriptions of all the hosts: Elizabeth (treasurer, Ravenswood, owner of SGO) is "a ninja... able to vanish at will and walk silently." I'm "a purple blur" and John the massage therapist is "that cool massage guy." The hat, however, acquired this: "One pointy tip away from being Wiccan." Science geek, absolutely, but Wiccan? Never. That all said, we cleaned and weeded and hauled rocks and, and, and... And about did ourselves in to make the place shine. The all-round best compliments of the evening had to be that folks were thrilled to see a 'blight and eyesore' brought back to life and that the garden never looked better. Yes! Yes! Yes! The hard work has paid off.
